The next few days were a blur of activity, telling everyone she was engaged, keeping Sokka from killing Zuko and getting ready to move back to the Fire Nation, though this time as his soon-to-be-wife, though she would continue being his adviser, since he trusts no one more than her, or so he says. Katara was excited to marry him, and so soon. The wedding would be at the Fire Nation in two four months time. She was excited but really nervous. She was marrying the Fire Lord, after all and she wasn't sure if she'd make a good Fire Lady, but she would try for Zuko. Once they were on the boat to go back to the Fire Nation, they had some more time together, to be together over and over.
Once they got back, its was busy and hectic couple of weeks, only two weeks in till the wedding they had finally had sometime alone, which Katara was thankful for. She had to talk to Zuko and it was important. So here they were, walking through the garden that Zuko had told her he had played as a child. She liked thinking of him as a child, wondering what he was like. She looked up at him, nervous but happy at the same time. Zuko looked down at her and smirked. "So my water lily, why are you acting so weird?"
Katara chuckled nervously, liking how he had a nickname for her. She looked at the little fountain. "Well, you see. I am late with my cycle, Zuko. Two months, actually.... I think I might be with child?" she said it like a question, not being able to look at him. Zuko got really quiet before she felt him let go of her hand he had been holding in his. "You think your.... pregnant?" he asked quietly. Katara looked up at him to see shock and confusion in his eyes. Katara shrugged and nodded. "Yes, I'm pretty positive." she said, sighing. Zuko flinched. "And your sure its mine?" he asked quietly. Katara's eyes flamed, looking up at him. "Zuko! Of course! How could you even ask me that?" she asked. "I thought you would be happy that I was having your young! Plus we'll be married so soon, its not like its bad!" she said, trying to stay calm.
Zuko sighed loudly. "We haven't even talked about kids! I don't think we're even ready for a kid, Katara! I wasn't planning on any for at least a few more years, plus what will the nobles say when they find out your pregnant before we're married! If you would of just kept your legs shut!" he said, then instantly regretted it. Katara flinched. "Keep my legs closed.... So your telling me that this is my fault? How dare you, Zuko! Fine, if your so worried about it, then I'll just leave, since me getting pregnant is my fault and not because you couldn't keep it in your pants." she said, taking the water from the fountain to freeze his feet to the ground and walk away.
"Katara, wait! I didn't mean it like-" he said, getting cut off when ice whipped over his mouth and she was gone. He couldn't believe he had actually said that. He felt so bad. He knew they'd have to talk about this calmly. After he melted the ice off, he decided to let her cool down before going to try and talk to her. He loved her and wanted kids, it just hit him so quick and so hard he didn't even expect it. After a few hours he went back to her room, knocking quietly.
Katara sat on a chair, her arms wrapped around her stomach as she struggled to stop sobbing. She couldn't believe that he had said that. She knew he was upset, but to be that upset and that angry. She sat there for hours, deep in thought. She didn't even get to say anything when someone knocked when Zuko walked in. He looked at her. "I love you. I'm sorry I said that." he whispered, closing the door. Katara sighed, she knew it would be a long night of talking and figuring things out, but she knew it would be eventually.

Fate
Zuko couldn't fault Sokka or Suki for the fact that they had to find a place to land. There was no way they could continue to fly the airship in the dark, not with the wind picking up as well. They possibly could have made it to Omashu for their scheduled stop if they had left Kyoshi on time, but Suki's parents were so happy to have Sokka there as well as Katara. They also didn't hold a grudge against Zuko for burning down the village, especially after he sent carpenters and other craftsmen to help with any additional rebuilding needs. Suki and Ty Lee also put in good words for him.
The longer stay, however, left them in the bind they we

I Can't Let You Go, Katara
She guessed she should probably get used to not being addressed by her name. Here at the Fire Lords home, nobody called her Katara anymore. Sure, they addressed her as Lady Katara to her face or in formal invitations. But she heard the gossip. That Water Tribe girl. The one who was
training the Avatar. She lives with him, you know!
Then the other woman would get confused. She lives with who? Fire Lord Zuko?
The first woman would giggle. No! She lives with the Avatar! Though I bet Fire Lord Zuko wouldnt mind if she lived with him. Ive seen the way he looks at her, all -
That was usually when she stopped listening. Zu
