The bet

Katara stormed off, to be anywhere but near that obnoxious Fire Bender! He thinks he's just all that? She scoffed and kicked at a rock harshly. "I hate him!" she declared to no one in particular. Toph raised an eye brow. "Really? Well you could of fooled me." she sarcastically, though she was smirking. Katara glared. "I do, I hate when we visit him. He makes me so mad!" she yelled, wanting to water whip the smirk right off the Fire Lord's face. Toph laughed. "No, Sugar queen. You don't get mad, you get hot. You just don't know the difference." she said, grinning when the young water bender turned bright red.

Katara glared. "Look, me and Zuko are a big no no. It just, no! I hate him anyways I can't wait in till we leave." she said childishly stomping her foot. Toph sighed and rolled her eyes "You have to admit it sooner or later Sugar queen. You and sifu hot man have it bad for each other." she said, then left snickering. Katara sighed loudly. She wasn't going to stay in this danged palace. She found herself wandering the market in the center of town. It was great to get away from everyone. She couldn't stand Toph's teasing and Zuko's damned temper. You'd think he'd be a little nicer, but he always had to just get her so mad! That's what he did best. While her temper simmered, she ran smack dab into a large man, making her fall flat on her butt.

"Oh, I'm so sorry!" The guy said, offering a hand, which Katara refused, getting up on her own. "It's fine. It was my fault." she said, shaking her head. "I need to really watch where I'm going." she said The guy smiled at her, and Katara realized he looked pretty good. Well built with darker skin. He had a nice smile to. "I'm Konko, by the way." he said, holding his hand out again. Katara shook it. "I'm Katara." she said, smiling. "Do you live around here?" asked Konko curious. Katara shook her head. "Not really. I travel... We're visiting... a friend if we can call him that. Do you?" she asked. Konko nodded. "Yea, my father runs a fish market. If you'd like, I could show you around?" he asked hopefully. Katara grinned. Who was she to tell him no?

That evening, Konko walked Katara to the path that lead to the palace. She didn't want her to walk her there because she didn't want him to know that she was staying there. "Would you like to go out tomorrow? On a date?" he asked Katara. They had spent the whole day together walking around the Fire Nation and just talking. It was really fun. Katara grinned and nodded. "I'll meet you here tomorrow night?" she asked hopefully. Konko nodded, a smile on his lips. He kissed Katara's hand. "I'll be there" he said, then walked off. Katara kept going up the path. To bad she didn't see the figure hidden in the shadows, following Konko away.

The next evening, Katara waited at there designated spot for almost an hour before Konko finally showed up, his face pale. He looked all around. "I'm sorry lady Katara." he said, bowing his head. Lady? Katara looked at him confused. "I didn't know you were traveling with the Avatar or visiting the Fire Lord. He has order I do not see you again but I could not stand you up. I do apologize!" he said, then rushed off, leaving a very pissed off water bender. Someone was going to pay, and Katara knew just who was going to.

Zuko was sitting in his study, very proud of himself. He had seen that pompous jerk hitting on Katara the night before. So he thought he would pay him a little visit. He figured he wouldn't show for their 'date' and Katara would be mad at him. He had no right talking to his water bender anyways. He hated seeing her crushing on a guy like that. She deserved better. To bad he was to stubborn to acknowledge that it was him he wanted her to get with. There was a loud commotion out side his door. A girl screaming, the guards trying to keep her out of his office. The door flew off the hinges, hitting the back wall. A water whip slashed his wrists, his stomach, everywhere. "What the hell?" he shouted, using bending to get rid of the water. There was Katara, her eyes bright with anger. "I'm going to kill you, Zuko! How dare you?! How fucking dare you?" she yelled, she said, throwing ice shards at him. Zuko melted them, not fighting back yet. "What the hell, Katara? Calm down! What did I do?" he yelled, glad that the guards finally got her, restraining her arms so she couldn't bend. "I liked him and you told him that I was pretty much your property! You went around and told everyone to stay away from me." she growled.

Zuko shrugged. "There all fire nation anyways. You hate most Fire Nation guys anyways." he said, nonchalantly. Katara raised an eyebrow and smiled sweetly. "Oh, so you're just looking out for me by making decisions for me?" she asked sweetly, batting her eyelashes. Zuko grinned and nodded. "Exactly. I do it because I'm looking out for you." he said the satisfaction. Katara walked over. "Oh, so its for my own good?" she asked, smiling, getting close to his face. Zuko nodded, leaning up, hoping she'd kiss him. "Exactly." he said as she leaned down even farther.

Aang and Toph were walking down the hallway when they heard a loud crash and a curse. They both went to see what happened, when out of the room came Katara, her face red with anger and satisfaction. Aang peeked into the room and laughed. There was Zuko, frozen to the large chair for his desk. The chair had first fallen over onto its back, taking him with it obviously, when Katara froze him to the chair, then the chair to floor. Aang looked at Toph with a smirk. "I'm so going to win this." he said as he and Toph left, leaving the Fire Lord frozen to the floor, yelling for them to come back.
